For two days we had just killer winds. It was cold, damp, some areas had snow, some sleet, around here it was mostly rain. The wind howled non-stop for two days. By the time it was over, there were just a few leaves hanging on with all their might!
Here in the Not-So-Great-White-North, and in my city especially, the DPW has banned burning within the city limits. Of course, most citizens protested. Loudly. And often. And some weren't exactly nice about it either.
So the city made the decision that they would vacuum up the leaves if we raked them into the streets at specially designated times and dates. Most thought that was okay. No bagging them up, and having to cart them to the City-owned Yard Waste Site. Cool.
So... this vacuum thingy is the size of a dump truck. (NOT kidding!) It's like the loudest vacuum cleaner you've ever owned on steroids. Lots & lots of steroids! While I believe this service really is valuable to the city and it's residents... I just wished they didn't start near my street... at about 6:20 a.m.
Which was a drag simply because I woke up to a sound that I initially deemed to be much like the sound people describe about a tornado. And yes, I didn't need nearly as much coffee this morning. I was so adrenaline fried I don't even know why I even bothered with coffee!
I am however going to be sporting some particularly nasty bruises for awhile. It's bad enough when I smack into door frames when I just need caffeine. Bashing into them while believing that at any moment my house is about to come down around me... brutal, just flipping brutal.
Cripes.
Break out the color wheel. I may be able to patent some of the new colors.
