All is what it appears to be. Or is it?

An Optical Illusion Of Sorts...

The sail boat seems relatively close, as does the other shoreline, trees and mountains. When in fact, (Because of the zoom lens) the sailboat is at the least ten to perhaps fifteen miles away and one can only speculate how many miles of water there is between the boat and the opposite shore. In reading some of the tourist information books, those mountains that seem so close could actually be well over 300 miles away! This serves to remind me that in the supposedly best of situations... all is not what it seems.

It also reminds me that there are two sayings I'm quite fond of, and they are quite apropos on this subject.

The first is, "What goes around comes around three times over."

The second? "Ain't karma a bitch!"

Who said, "Revenge is a dish best served cold"?

Something of vengeance I had tasted for the first time; as aromatic wine it seemed, on swallowing, warm and racy: its after-flavor, metallic and corroding, gave me a sensation as if I had been poisoned.
